Dorset Deaf Children's Society

After the success of last year’s Christmas Party DDCS returned again to The Blandford School in Blandford Forum for this year’s party. The school very kindly, once again, let us have the use of their hall, cafeteria and dining room free of charge. We would like to thank Liz Bishopp and the school and also thank Jackie and Linda for all their help on the day. 156 members turned up including 79 children and there was plenty of space for everyone for what was to be a fun filled afternoon.

The afternoon started with face painting and craft tables for the children (and some of the parents) to make Christmas items.  There was a finger buffet with plenty of delicious food which was provided for our families by the school catering company. We would like to thank Karen Hall, Dawn, Hayley and Dan for giving their time to make the food for us and Catering Academy for donating the food free of charge.  Also available was tea, coffee and squash for the children, Christmas music and Christmas crackers and nibbles.

 

Sandra Mackrow and Paul Pearce, two of our parents, unbeknown to the trustees kindly organised a raffle and brought along donated prizes. They raised £192 for DDCS. Thank you Sandra and Paul!

 

The entertainment this year was Krazy Kev who entertained the children and also brought along his real life rabbit for the children to meet. Then it was time for a visit from a very special person…… Father Christmas who brought presents for all the children.  Everyone had a good time meeting up with friends and hopefully making some new ones.
